Murry is a geologist by education, who began his career with Shell Oil in Houston, Texas. He advanced in his field to become the Treasurer of Shell Oil and later the Chief Executive Officer of Coral Energy, LLP. In 1998 Murry moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to become the CEO and Board Chairman of EQT, Inc., a natural gas exploration and drilling company. In 2010 Murry retired from this position to focus his efforts on promoting the use of natural gas in America. In 2011 Murry and Cindy became the first people to travel across the United States in a dedicated natural gas vehicle. Their journey is chronicled at www.gonatgas.com.
Murry is currently an active member of many corporate and civic Boards throughout the United States. In addition to his work with the Cindy and Murry Gerber Foundation, he is an enthusiastic supporter of his children’s sporting and academic interests.
Cindy is a labor and employment attorney who worked in the Pittsburgh area for over twenty years. Her practice was primarily in the area of union/management relations, executive employment agreements and employment litigation. Cindy was a partner in private law firms for most of her career and in 2010 she became the Chief Deputy Public Defender of Allegheny County. She has since retired from the position to establish the Cindy and Murry Gerber Foundation.
In addition to her foundation work, Cindy has served on the Boards of numerous civic and charitable organizations in Pittsburgh. She is also an active volunteer with local legal aid organizations and with her children’s schools.
